JELD-WEN Europe is the leading supplier of doors on the European door market, producing standard doors, exclusive doors of high quality, customer specified doors and project doors.
In the UK alone they employ around 1200 staff that manufactureand distribute quality doors, windows, patio doors and stairs.
Operating across 4 factories the head office and door production facility in Sheffield has two factories. Due to increased production demands, managers were looking for quicker and safer ways of moving the doors around the manufacturing lines.
Jeld Wen called in Tractive Power to look at the application, and to provide a bespoke system to address these issues. The existing systm had roller conveyers moving the doors to the end of a conveyor line, off loading onto a conveyor dolley. This dolley would then traverse forwards and backwards to align with the next required roller conveyor. The pushing and pulling was all done manually and Jeld-Wen required a powered system to drive the doors of the conveyors and to drive the dolley backwards and forwards.
Tractive Power used the TP250 with 5th wheel hydraulics to drive the dolley backwards and forwards removing the fist manual handling issue and also a motor controller system that is powered and operated from the machine to drive the conveyor rollers. These driven conveyor rollers now load and unload the doors off and on the conveyor dolley.
