Prevent Workplace Injuries with Battery Powered Tugs

One of the easiest ways to prevent injuries in your warehouse is to invest in battery-powered tugs from Tractive Power.

A new report released on Materials Handling World magazine stated that 2% of workers in storage and transportation sustained an injury during 2019.
This survey is carried out annually to monitor and assess workplace illness and injury rates. One of the most worrying statistics is the highest level of workplace fatalities.

For our latest blog, we are going to look at some of the most common injuries and how Tractive tugs can help lower your injury toll for years to come.

The Most Common Non-Fatal Injuries Revealed

According to the report, the most common types of non-fatal injuries included:

  • Slips and trips
  • Lifting and carrying
  • Falls from a height
  • Struck by a moving or falling object

In total 2.4% of workers experienced non-fatal injuries in the sector, with the majority of these occurring in the post and courier sub-sector at a rate of 3.5%. They were closely followed by warehouse workers at 3.1% and road haulage workers at 2.9%.
This rate of injury is significantly higher than in other industries.

Slips and trips accounted for the most amount of specified injuries, closely followed by falls from a height. Lifting and carrying saw the highest rate of injuries over 7 days, followed by slips and trips.

Non-fatal injuries are beginning to decline year upon year, although they are still costing businesses £5.2 billion, which means companies will need to start focusing on health and safety improvements and investing in employee training.

As we have previously alluded to, Tractive Power’s battery-powered tugs will help to take some of the strain from your workforce and free up members of the team for other tasks; thus improving their productivity.
